Although installing a grid connected battery doesn’t make financial sense yet, i.e. most people won’t save enough money by doing so within the life of their battery warranty, some people want to install a battery anyway. The reasons include minimising how much they pay electricity retailers, or to provide a level of backup during a power outage.
